SUMMARY:VK9XY Christmas Island OC-002
DESCRIPTION:The Pacific Islands DXpedition Group (PIDXG)  and  Youth on the Air\n(YOTA) have announced the VK9XY DXpedition to Christmas Island (OC-\n002)\, running from 16 November to 4 December.\nYoung operators have expanded their roles in recent years – advanc-\ning from remote operations on Rotuma (3D2Y)  to on-island team par-\nticipation on Saba (PJ6Y) – and will now take full charge  of plan-\nning\, leading\, and operating the VK9XY DXpedition.\nThe eight-person on-island crew  will consist entirely of operators\nunder the age of 25.  Confirmed  team members  include  N4ML  (team\nleader)\, W4IPC\, NT1S\, LY7J\, and 7Q6UJ\,  with the final roster spots\nset to be filled in the coming weeks.  Veteran  DXpeditioners  W0GJ\nand W6IZT will provide on-site guidance and mentorship.\nThe station plan calls for 4 local stations\,  two remote NexGenRiB2\nstations operating over Starlink\,  and a portable  QO-100 satellite\nstation. Activity will be on 160-6 meters\, and will include partic-\nipation in the CQ WW DX CW Contest. QSL via M0OXO’s OQRS.\nFundraising efforts  are underway  to cover expenses  for the young\noperators. See https://vk9xy2026.com/ for detailed information.
